[Confrontation Unit 8] Shooting Day #2 - Evaluation
I didn't shoot any scripted sequences today, and already I am feeling more confident about the final film. Not only was I able to capture a lot more footage but it was in general far more interesting because it was actually real. This new direction is definitely something I'm happy about, despite the fact it means almost entirely scrapping the script I spent a few weeks writing. I think that script still holds up, but it would require a team who have acting experience to make it feel real.
I was able to capture a few arguments, and a lot of strange situations, such as a group of people screaming over a wasp. Some of this stuff may be normal to me now, seeing as I've been working alongside many people in my art class for almost 3 years now, however I think it'll be something somebody from outside will find really interesting and potentially hilarious. I can see this possibly taking me into a similar direction to shows such as The Mighty Boosh, as the basis of that show is the outlandish situations and strange characters.
Overall I'm glad I've decided to move away from the scripted scenes. Giving everybody more freedom has definitely benefited everybody, as now my classmates are able to work as well as be in the video, as well as the fact I am able to capture natural situations and dialogue, which are often more entertaining than those in my script.
Here's just one of the many great things captured today:
