[Confrontation Unit 8] Documentary Research & Analysis: The Beginning: Making Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace
With the new direction I am going in with the final project (going from a mockumentary to a documentary) I though it would be more fitting to instead look at behind the scenes documentaries for films or TV shows. Arguably the best behind the scenes documentary I have scene is the one produced for Star Wars Episdoe 1: The Phantom Menace.
as well as being an informative piece about the making of the film, It almost portrays those behind the film, mainly George Lucas in a bad light. I get the impression that the director didn't like the film, and almost wanted to show why it failed. Probably my favourite parts of the film parallel each other, the first being in early production while the second is just after the crew has watched the film. In the first of these scenes, George is heard saying "Its important not to go too far", and in the second scene, "I may have gone too far in some places." Of course, there is the infamous "Jar Jar is the key to all this."
While I definitely do not want to portray foundation in a bad light, I would like to take inspiration from this documentary, and create a something in a similar style. instead showing the process behind Art Foundation preparing for their final majors and the show. I think many people would find this really interesting, especially at the show where they can see the end result.
