Mockumentary Script
Scene 1
"9:00"
Students walk into art foundation from entrance via AS / A2.
Occasional looks at camera from people and comments. E.g. 'Are they filming
already?’, 'What's going on?'.
People walk in as two major groups, David Manns placed in-between
the two, and is shown proceeding into the office in which he works, setting up
his paints as people continue to walk through - establishing where he is for
future reference.
Last person to walk in (Oscar) looks at camera, says nothing
- looks slightly smug. Continues to walk into the foundation while camera
tracks - ending up in middle of the room facing Oscars desk.
Proceeds to speak to class, in a smug manner, garnering no
response:
E.g. "Alright guys? Mad weekend that was. You don't wanna
know. Don't even ask. Yeah... you shoulda been there...." - Continues to
ramble for around a minute as he gets settled down and ready for working.
Rambling progressively becomes more awkward as he runs out of words to say, and
people appear frustrated - looking into camera in frustration.
Oscar leaves the room, muttering "I've got some
computer work to do."
Oscar:
Scene 2
"10:00"
Class works in silence, a few shots of close-ups of people
working for around 10 - 15 seconds. Cuts to camera in the same place as where
previous scene ends.
Kaleigh begins looking around her desk, appearing to look
for something. This continues for around 10 seconds, while the camera pans over
to focus on her. People sat around her begin to look over in confusion, and glance
at the camera.
Kaleigh appears frustrated "Where's my pen gone?"
Kaleigh: "My pen, it’s gone again."
Kaleigh: "If it’s those fu..."
Kaleigh: "Fine, thanks."
(5 second pause as she starts working again).
David Bird walks into the room: "Class tutorial"
Class is alerted, all look over. "10 minutes. Bring a notebook and
pen."
Begins to turn around to leave the room, before suddenly
looking back round; "Is Tyler
not here yet?"
Class unanimously confirms he isn't.
Exhales frustrated. "Alright then. If he's not here
before the tutorial then one of you will have to fill him in."
Class agrees.
Cut.
David’s office:
David Bird sat at computer, with camera placed in front of
him. Begins with him being interviewed.
"I'm David Bird, an art teacher at King Edward
VI College ,
or KEGS. I've been teaching these students for around 2 and a half years
now..." Interview continues as sound, over muted footage of the previously
discussed group tutorial.
Interview ends - sound returns to group tutorial.
David Bird: "Alright, nice work all of you. I need to
get to a meeting for half one today. so we're going to have an early lunch at
twelve, and have a quick catch-up at one before I go."
Class in the process of returning to their desks.
Scene 3
Various shots of people working, close ups and long shots.
Around 3 - 5 shots.
Final shot is interrupted by Tyler entering the class via back entrance.
Camera pans over so see him walking through the class
towards his desk.
Class is mostly silent.
Amber: "Oh, you missed a tutorial, one of us has to
fill you in on it."
Tyler shrugs shoulders. Slumps back in his chair and looks
at the ceiling, exhaling.
Almost entire class looks over in confusion, and begin
giggling as they realise what he is referencing.
Lucy (laughs): "Oh, its Gemma!"
Camera pans over to what Tyler previously pointed to,
revealing a black and white photo of Gemma’s face taped to the ceiling above
Gemma’s desk.
Tyler looks around class: "Where’s the *pause* real, Gemma...?"
Amber "She's in student support, we're going to see how
long it takes her to notice."
Lucy: "So say nothing about the disembodied Gemma
heads"
Lucy: "Oh yeah, there's more"
Pans over to Edwina, who looks at the camera
unenthusiastically.
From this point onwards, all scenes will have a photo of
Gemma placed somewhere in the scene.
Scene 3.5
Scene 4
"12:00"
Close up of David Manns working in Amelia’s office. Painting
or drawing.
Slowly pans out to reveal James and a group of people
arguing around him. Amelia is in shot, but out of focus and in the foreground,
attempting to work.
James: “All I’m saying it, women have more rights” –
Triggers everybody to start shouting at him, while David remains working
silently.
Scene 4.5
Shot of people eating at their desks, in the main room,
facing the entrance to AS / A2. Gemma can be seen walking through into the room
– as she comes into view of everybody else, the room falls into silence.
Gemma stops in her place. “What is it” – In a confused
manner, looking around the room.
Conversations awkwardly resume, as she continue walking
towards her desk, walking out of view of the camera.
5 – 10 second pause as conversations continue.
Gemma shouts: “Oh my god, what is that!?” Laughing.
Room falls into silence again, as the rest of the class turn
their head towards Gemma quickly. Some begin giggling as the camera turns
around to reveal Gemma stood at her desk, looking at the photo of her face
above her, trying to hide her laughter. Camera turns back to class as they
begin to laugh along. David Mann’s head peers around wall looking confused,
eyes wide and darting around the class.
Scene 5
"13:00"
Camera filming a group of people talking around Jacks desk,
as Oscar interrupts, walking in through the door to AS/A2, as he begins to
loudly sing the tune to ‘Back in Black’, by AC/DC. He stops by the group of
people as they fall into silence.
Oscar: “Back in black?” *pause* “The black clothes.” *pause*
Looking to camera. “I guess they’re not really into the classics.” Oscar
Awkwardly walks away, and the camera follows. He stops outside Amelia’s office,
signalling to the camera to be quiet, as he walks in quietly. Camera shows
Amelia eating, as Oscar makes her jump, purposely, causing her to start choking
on her food.
Oscar is frozen in shock, having no idea what to do, for
about 5 – 10 seconds. He then walks out the room quickly.
Oscar: “Jack, I think Amelia wants you for something”
(slight panic)
Oscar quickly walks back to his desk while the camera is
positioned in the middle of the room, with Oscar’s desk in view.
Jack runs out shouting “Amelia’s choking, what do I do!?” as
camera whip pans over.
The entire class goes into panic and runs to Amelia’s
office, while Oscar is shown hiding his face in guilt, pretending to do work.
As everybody disappears into the office, shouting and panicking, Oscar can be
seen cautiously getting up from his desk and running out of the room, camera
tracking as he runs and leaves leaves via the back door.
