[Prologue Unit 4] The Many Voices Of... - Evaluation

For the final intro I decided to exclusively use footage from Red Dwarf, and put a focus on footage from season 11 of the show. This makes for a more consistent theme, despite not working as the quickfire portfolio that Jimmy Vee's intro worked as. When I had clips from Tomb Raider it spoiled the tone somewhat, so this simplification of footage works in the videos favor in my opinion.

I'm unhappy with some of the footage from the older series, as it shows a dramatic drop in video quality and the resolution is entirely different - however I do think I needed some clips from the older content as well as more recent to acknowledge how long the show has been running for. I also used some short clips of space ships which were used just to add some more variation to what's on screen. Unlike Jimmy Vee, this isn't footage of multiple creature designs, it's only one person, so I felt it needed something in there to break up shots of Chris Barrie. It also helps tie it into the Sci-Fi event.

I think on retrospect it would have been interesting to play with some visual effects, to blur the lines between recent footage and footage from the 80s / 90s. I could maybe have given a VHS effect or something to set it apart from the intro for Jimmy Vee. Outside of these few missed opportunities, I'm happy with the results, and think it will work well as an introduction for Chris Barrie.
