[Prologue Unit 4] 'Create an experience from an experience'

Last year, for my A2 Art exam, I was given the opportunity to create a series of videos to be used at a North Wales based sci-fi convention - the Sci-Fi Weekender. These videos were used as introductions for the various guests and shows that occurred during the weekend, and were projected onto a screen above the main stage before each corresponding event.

The videos went down well with the guests and the managers of the event, and so I was invited back this year to create another series of videos for the same purpose. I have decided to document the process of making these videos as part of my new project, 'Create an experience from an experience.'
The videos I produce for the event will be build up to the final piece, which will be a documentary style video, documenting some behind the scenes moments of the Sci-Fi Weekender. I want this to be the polar opposite to last year, which was a promotional video similar to my previous work, edited to Freedom by Modestep. That was a fast paced video intended to show the event in an exciting and amazing light, whereas I want this year to be in contrast to that - a slightly mundane but humorous look at what people get up to when they're not meeting celebrities or swimming through an ocean of cosplayers. This would be in a similar fashion to The Office, in which these are just normal people in a normal workplace.

Below are some examples of the work I produced for last years event.

These I felt were the most successful of the 12 videos I produced, my personal favourite being the 'Evolution of Video Games', due to the past paced style of editing and the complexity of visuals on screen. This was also the first one I produced, and was the one I spend most time with. This year I would like to make sure that all of the intro's are at least of this quality.
